Interlaken Walking Tour Guide
So what is your name and where are you from?
My name is Sara Schwab and I live in Bönigen. That’s the village between Interlaken and the beautiful lake of Brienz.
How did you become a guide?
Because of you Nina 😉 …and I wanted to do these tours because I like to show people from all over the world this beautiful place that we call home.
Apart from working for the Interlaken Walking Tours, what is your favorite thing to do in Switzerland?
I really like to go for a hike in the mountains or swimming in the refreshing lakes.
What are your top 3 holiday destinations and why?
1. Hamburg – because they have the best Hamburgers! Not just because of the Hamburgers, the people are very nice and there are many little nice shops with good food and drinks.
2. Barcelona – The atmosphere in this city is great and of course I love Tapas and Sangria.
3. Maine, USA – The nature is amazing there: big green landscapes, the ocean, and seals.
How does your current life situation look like, tell us what are you doing?
I’m doing my final exams now and I can’t wait for the relaxing summer to begin.
What is so special about Interlaken?
Interlaken is surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains and between two beautiful lakes. There are so many different and cool activities to do in Interlaken, but also in the whole region around Interlaken.
Have you ever had someone famous on your trip?
Yes I would say so. I had the Philipine TV team from Trending Now on a Food and Culture Tour and the owner family of In-N-Out Burger from the States on a Jungfraujoch Tour.
What do you love most about your job?
I love to meet so many nice people from many different countries and also to learn more about their cultures. And of course to take them around Interlaken or also to the Jungfraujoch and show them in what beautiful place we live and tell them many things they probably didn’t know about this region.
If you would take a guy on a date and want to show him your favorite spot, where would you go to?
I really like to go for a walk and chase the sunsets at the lake. So I think, I would probably take him to one of the two lakes.
What is the most memorable expedition you have made?
When I was in Maine, in the States, I went camping with a few friends. It was a magical place in the forest, right next to a little lake and a sky full of stars.
What is the scariest situation you got yourself into?
I was walking in the forest and saw a huge snake! Maybe like 10 centimeters, but it looked huge…
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
As a happy teacher, surrounded by people I love.
We finish the interview and step outside the office and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning a million. What would you do?
I would take Nina and other friends on a world trip!
Thank you for your time Sara, what are your plans for the upcoming months?
I will work for Interlaken Tourism as a TOI Angel and help tourists get orientated in Interlaken and I will also make delicious sandwiches at the Sandwich bar. And of course, I will guide tours! I want to save money and go traveling as long as I have enough money!
